    Austenitic stainless steels are composed of chromium, iron, and nickel, typically containing between 16% and 26% chromium and between 6% and 22% nickel. These alloys have minimal carbon content and may include trace amounts of other metals.

    The key distinguishing factor of austenitic stainless steels lies in their higher nickel content compared to other stainless steel types. While nickel enhances the unique properties of austenitic stainless steels, such as corrosion resistance and ductility, its inclusion also contributes to the higher cost of these alloys due to the expense associated with nickel.

    The 300 series austenitic stainless steels, comprising iron-based chromium-nickel alloys, are engineered to withstand corrosion.
