Product Description
Stainless steel sheets are flat metal plates or sheets made from an
alloy of iron mixed with a minimum of 10.5% chromium, along with
varying amounts of other elements such as nickel, manganese,
nitrogen, and molybdenum. This alloying composition gives stainless
steel sheets their unique combination of properties, including
corrosion resistance, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
Stainless steel sheets are widely used in various industries and
applications due to their versatility and performance
characteristics. They come in a variety of grades, each with its
own specific properties and applications. Common grades include
304, 316, 430, and 201, among others.
Features:
Type 430 vs. Type 304:
- 430 grade stainless steel is magnetic,
- 304 is non-magnetic
- 430 is somewhat difficult to form, 304 is easier to form and weld
- 430 contains 17% chromium and 0.12% carbon, 304 contains 18%
chromium and 0.08% carbon
Type 304 vs. Type 316:
- Both type 304 and 316 are easily welded and formed
- Both types are non magnetic
- 304 is made up of 18% chromium, 316 contains 17% chromium
- 304 contains no trace of molybdenum, 316 contains 2.1% molybdenum
- Largest difference: molybdenum is added to Type 316 to increase
corrosion and pitting resistance
