SAE 8620 belongs to the Cr-Ni-Mo series steel. The addition of
alloying elements effectively inhibits the transformation of
supercooled austenite to ferrite and pearlite, promotes bainite
transformation, and has excellent hardenability
SAE 8620 has good carburizing performance, formability and
weldability, and is the most widely used carburizing alloy. Due to
the high nickel content, this grade has a high-strength shell and
core toughness. Chromium and molybdenum support carburizing and
provide good surface hardness and wear resistance
SAE8620 steel is a surface hardening steel widely used for
carburizing and carbonitriding. The surface hardness in the
quenched state is generally 37~43HRC, the hardenability is quite
high, it has good forgeability and weldability, and the cutting
performance is also quite good.

Application of SAE8620 alloy steel bar
SAE8620 alloy steel is often used to manufacture gears in engines
and transmission systems of small and medium-sized automobiles and
tractors
It can be used to manufacture carburized parts and cyanided parts
that require higher core performance, such as the tooth claws and
tooth bodies of roller drill bits used in oil drilling and
metallurgical open-pit mines
SAE8620 contains molybdenum. In addition to having good
comprehensive performance, it can also withstand a certain
temperature. Therefore, it can be used to manufacture turbine
gears, complete rotors, internal combustion engine connecting rods,
valve section forgings
SAE8620 steel is usually used to manufacture mechanical parts and
tools that require high strength, hardness and corrosion
resistance, such as gears, shaft parts, valves, oil wells and
marine equipment, etc.
Due to its excellent wear resistance and high hardness, 8620 steel
can also be used to manufacture high-speed cutting tools and molds

quenching and tempering.
