show good corrosion resistance in most conventional environments.
In atmospheric environment, it can resist oxidation and rust for a
long time; in freshwater environment, it can also remain stable and
not easily corroded.
The strength of corrosion resistance depends on factors
Material composition of stainless steel: Different grades of
stainless steel have different contents of alloy elements and
different corrosion resistance
316 stainless steel usually has better corrosion resistance than
304 stainless steel, especially in the face of chloride ion
environment, such as seawater.
Environmental conditions: If it is in extreme environments such as
strong acid, strong alkali, high salinity, and high temperature,
its corrosion resistance may be challenged. For example, in a
concentrated hydrochloric acid environment, the corrosion rate of
stainless steel plates will accelerate.
Surface state: The finish and integrity of the stainless steel
plate surface will also affect the corrosion resistance. If there
are scratches, wear or dirt on the surface, it may become the
starting point of corrosion.
The corrosion resistance of stainless steel plates is reliable in
general environments, but in specific harsh environments, it is
necessary to select 316L stainless steel materials or take
additional protective measures to enhance its corrosion resistance
according to specific circumstances.
