Chemical composition
304 stainless steel channel steel:
The main chemical composition is carbon (C) ≤ 0.07%, chromium (Cr)
17.00-19.00%, nickel (Ni) 8.00-10.00%, silicon (Si) ≤ 1.00%,
manganese (Mn) ≤ 2.00%, phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035%, sulfur (S) ≤
0.030%. Its Chinese brand number is 0Cr18Ni9, American standard
(ASTM) brand number is S30400, and Japanese standard (JIS) brand
number is SUS304.
316 stainless steel channel steel:
Chemical composition: carbon (C) ≤ 0.08%, manganese (Mn) ≤ 2.00%,
silicon (Si) ≤ 1.00%, phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.045%, sulfur (S) ≤ 0.030%,
chromium (Cr) 16.00-18.00%, nickel (Ni) 10.00-14.00%, and
2.00-3.00% molybdenum (Mo). The corresponding Chinese grade is
0Cr17Ni12Mo2, and the common American standard (ASTM) grades are
S31600, etc.
Corrosion resistance
304 stainless steel channel:
It has good corrosion resistance and can maintain good stability in
most environments, such as daily indoor environments, light
industrial environments, and food processing. It also has good
corrosion resistance to alkaline solutions and most organic and
inorganic acids. However, when facing media with high chloride ion
content (such as seawater, salt spray, etc.), its corrosion
resistance will be relatively weakened.
316 stainless steel channel:
Due to the addition of molybdenum, its corrosion resistance is
better than 304 stainless steel, especially in terms of pitting
resistance, crevice corrosion resistance and chloride stress
corrosion resistance. In harsh environments such as marine
environments, chemical industries, and pharmaceuticals that require
extremely high corrosion resistance, 316 stainless steel channels
can maintain good performance and have a wider range of
applications.
Performance
304 stainless steel channel:
It has good high temperature resistance, which can reach 1000-1200
degrees. It may suffer from corrosion and other problems when used
continuously in high temperature environment of 425-860°C.
316 stainless steel channel:
It has the best performance when the temperature is higher than
843℃ and lower than 454℃, and its stability is relatively better in
high temperature environment.
The mechanical properties of the two are similar, but the strength
and hardness of 316 stainless steel may be slightly higher than 304
stainless steel after proper heat treatment.
316 stainless steel is more difficult to process during cold
processing, and more attention should be paid to the welding
process during welding.
