Diameter
The diameter of studs is generally expressed in millimeters (mm),
and common diameters include M6, M8, M10, M12, M16, M20, etc. The
choice of diameter mainly depends on the strength and load
requirements required for the connected parts.
For example, in light structures, smaller diameter studs such as M6
or M8 may be used; while in heavy machinery or large building
structures, larger diameter studs such as M20 or larger M56 may be
required.

Stud length
The length of a stud is also in millimeters.
The length needs to be determined taking into account the thickness
of the parts being connected and the margin required for
installation.
Common lengths are 30mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, 80mm, 100mm 200mm 300mm
600mm 800mm, etc.
For example, if you want to connect two parts that are 20mm thick,
plus the thickness of the nut and washer, you may need to choose a
stud with a length of 60mm.
Thread specifications
Thread type:
Generally divided into coarse thread and fine thread. Coarse thread
has a larger pitch and faster installation speed, but the tightness
of the connection is relatively low; fine thread has a smaller
pitch and a tighter connection, which is suitable for occasions
that require higher precision and sealing.
Thread accuracy:
Usually divided into different grades, such as 4.8, 6.8, 8.8, etc.
The higher the thread accuracy grade, the better the dimensional
accuracy and mechanical properties of the stud.
Thread length at both ends of the stud
Depending on different usage requirements, the thread length at
both ends of the stud can be different. Generally speaking, the
thread length should be long enough to ensure that the nut can be
firmly tightened on the stud, while also considering the
limitations of the installation space. For example, for some
occasions with limited space, it may be necessary to choose a stud
with a shorter thread length.
